“Hanging around” is an international, democratic, multimedia project which has photography and video as its basis for transformation and use for music, text and performing arts. It researches the state of hanging around. These motives of “spending time without activity” you find all across the world in most different expressions, many different motivations, traditions or mentalities.

Since 2006 artscenico e.V. is artistically researching this way of participation in a society, in 2007 and 2008 as a project in the EU-CULTURE-Programme (2000-2006). Our european partners came from France, Italy, the Czeck Republic and Romania. The pictures were curated to differing exhbitions and several performances, musical pieces and texts have been created. They were presented at the symposium “off-limits” in Dortmund and at the partner’s institutions.
In its continuation the project stays open to all photographers and video artists interested in participation. (Proceedings)

An independant jury will curate an exhibition which will be presented in Dortmund and other RUHR 2010 towns in the course of the European Capital of Culture. All entries will be published on this site.
